What is Abacus?

Abacus is a Latin word that has its origins in the Greek words abax or abakon (meaning "table" or "tablet") which in turn, possibly originated from the Semitic word abq, meaning "sand". The abacus is one of many types of counting devices that are used to count large numbers.

Circa 1600 C.E., the use and evolution of the Chinese 1/5 abacus was begun by the Japanese via Korea. In Japanese, the abacus is called Soroban. The 1/4 abacus, a style preferred and still manufactured in Japan today, appeared circa 1930. The 1/5 models are rare today and 2/5 models are rare outside of China (excepting Chinese communities in North America and elsewhere).

Soroban abacus is also used as an effective education tool, especially for lower-grade students to understand basic number systems as follows;

At Kids Brain Academy, we conduct Online and Offline Abacus Classes. For Abacus Classes, we use Soroban Abacus as a tool for mathematical calculation. We have introduced different ways of mental calculations that develop numerous abilities and ultimately help in Brain development. A program designed to teach techniques through Interactive and Virtual methods.

The course is designed in a way that children learn as well as enjoy a lot. During the course, they undergo a lot of brain development exercises, which enhance their mental abilities massively.

When a child works on an abacus, he/she uses both hands to move the beads of the instrument. The movement of the fingers activates the sensors of the brain, the right-hand coordinates with the left side of the brain and vice versa. This, in turn, provides unlimited benefits to the child’s brain.

Abacus Training Details

• The course is of 9 levels.
• Each level is for Approx. 3 months.
• Classes are once a week for 2 hours duration or 2 days in a week 1 hour each class
• Examination and Level Completion certificate for each level.
• National and international Abacus Championship will be held.
